Mailbag: Alleged Mets Customer Service Reaction To Obstructed View Seats At Citi FIeld

The following was posted as a comment.  I have no way to know if this is accurate or not.   The Mets are welcome to respond or refute.

I’m a saturday plan holder, I just got off the phone a 40 minute conversation with an arrogant sales rep telling me there’s nothing they can do about the left field promenade, they can’t change the seats regardless of what Dave Howard said on the radio. Everyone take their complaints to consumerist.com!

Other fans have told me that the Mets moved them…although sometimes the moving takes you to another price tier.   The Mets should do best by their fans.   New ballpark curiosity can easily turn to “don’t go” apathy..as stated here:

This is terrible business. Seat obstructions? What are they thinking? So you sell one season, but let’s see who purchases season tickets next year for seats with obstructed views! Screwing over your fans isn’t exactly the best way to win them over (especially after two straight collapses)! Bad business practice from my favorite team. I’m disappointed.

Another take…

There are plenty of seats in rows 1 to 4 in prom that do not have a stairway problem. Do your research and you will be OK. I have section 521 row 2 and I purposely requested seats on the other side of the row where there is no stairs coming up. We need to get a list of what prom sections have the stairway problem and petition the mets to list and sell them as obstructed view. When I list the tickets I can not use on stubhub, I write nonobst in the row coloum, otherwise it’s a gamble if you buy without knowing. Otherwise, the stadium is great, enjoy the season!

I think it’s a shame that fans will need to “know where the bad seats are” in an attempt to avoid them.   I do agree that other than the obstructions the stadium is great…but not seeing the pitcher, or home plate, or two position players is not being cranky.

I invite anyone with pictures of obstructed views at Citi Field or Yankee Stadium to email them to [email protected] and we’ll put them up on the site.
