WWE’s CM PUNK to Throw First Pitch at Friday’s Mets Game

CM PUNK

CM Punk will throw out the first pitch at Friday’s New York Mets vs. Florida Marlins baseball game at Citi Field. Paul Heyman will be with him. They are both in town due to Wrestlemania 29.

CM Punk who just happens to be a Cubs fan from Chicago throwing at the first pitch for the Mets eh? Maybe Punk can hit a GTS(go to sleep) on someone. And also, Keep Paul Heyman away from the Mets front office. Heyman ran ECW (extreme championship wrestling) into the ground and all its assets got bought by the WWE in bankruptcy court. We don’t need him offering any advice to the Wilpons or Alderson. Plus he is a noted Yankees fan.

Not @mediagoon’s Mets Bobbleheads #53: St. Lucie David Wright

MetsPolice David Wright Blue St Lucie BobbleheadSince Shannon, Goon, and I have pretty much cleaned out our closets of Mets jerseys (at least for now, we all know there will be more later), I was thinking where can we go from here.  Easy answer – who doesn’t love bobbleheads?

He’s the Captain and he look s great wearing blue – ever since Single A.

Opening Day is tomorrow so this will be the final bobblehead in part 1 of our series.  Look for part 2 to start up in October (yes, even after 53 I still have more).

Not @mediagoon’s Mets Bobbleheads #51: Ike Davis

Another in the Gold’s sponsored bobblehead series (supposedly there is a curse with these) – and Ike did contract Valley Fever after this was announced.

We’ll be wrapping up this series on Sunday – not because I’ve run out (Ha!), but with the regular season comes less fluff posts (we hope).  I’ve acquired a good number of these bobble on my own (at games, team stores, etc), but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Kevin Goodman who runs Mets Bobbleheads on Facebook.  Seven of the bobbles I have featured so far I purchased from Kevin (who himself has an impressive collection).  Check out his page.

September 27, 2008 – My Scorecard

Mets Police Sept 27 2008 Scorecard CoverHands down the single greatest pitching performance I have personally witnessed was Johan’s complete game shutout over the Marlins on September 27, 2008.  It wasn’t a no-hitter and it asn’t a payoff game (well close), but when you consider that Johan was pitching on short rest with a torn meniscus; that the Mets were one loss from being eliminated from the playoffs; and that this was Shea Stadiums last weekend and the emotion was running sky high.  Johan took the entire team on his shoulders, ignored the pain, and carried the team and 55,000 plus in attendance into that last game at Shea still hoping for playoff baseball.

Two years later K-Rod would inspire a quote we have used many times here at Mets Police.  On that rainy night in September, Johan Manned Up and Played Better.

Not @mediagoon’s Mets Bobbleheads #50: Edgardo Alfonzo

MetsPolice Edgardo Alfonzo 50th Anniversary BobbleheadSince Shannon, Goon, and I have pretty much cleaned out our closets of Mets jerseys (at least for now, we all know there will be more later), I was thinking where can we go from here.  Easy answer – who doesn’t love bobbleheads?

For the 50th in our series I had to go with the final 50th Anniversary Bobblehead – Edgardo Alfonzo.  Who didn’t like Fonzie – and what a true team player.  Want me to go to third?  Sure.  Second?  Yup. Shortstop?  OK.

To those who have asked – yes, all of these are my bobbleheads (at least just the Mets related ones).  And I have them on display along shelves in my Mets-cave.  At some point I’ll probably get or have a cabinet built to display them all.
